Therapy Services
Brush Neuropsychology Services offers evidence-based therapy for children, teens, adults, and older adults in Michigan. Our approach is warm, collaborative, structured, and tailored to each individual’s needs. Therapy can occur in-person or via telehealth.
What Therapy Looks Like
Initial Consultation
We begin with a consultation appointment that lasts around one hour to understand concerns, history, goals, and what has and hasn’t been helpful in the past.
Goal Setting
Together, we identify specific, realistic therapeutic goals and determine the approaches best suited to achieve them.
Active, Skills-Based Sessions
Sessions typically include insight-oriented discussion, cognitive and emotional skill-building, practicing strategies in-session, and real-world application and weekly practice.
Collaborative Feedback
Clients receive ongoing feedback about progress, challenges, and next steps. Therapy is not a one-way conversation; it’s an active partnership.
Integrations with Daily Life
We emphasize strategies clients can use at home, school, work, and in relationships, ensuring therapy produces meaningful, practical change.
Transition and Maintenance
As treatment goals are met, we collaboratively plan for reduced frequency and long-term self-management. Booster sessions are often available as needed.
Our Therapeutic Approach
At Brush Neuropsychology Services, we view therapy as a collaborative, empowering process that helps individuals understand patterns, strengths and weaknesses, and move toward meaningful change. Therapy focuses on how to apply specific tools and strategies to help navigate everyday life.
Our philosophy is grounded in the following principles:
Evidence-Based and Insight-Driven
We use scientifically supported approaches, but always tailor them to each person's personality, background, goals, and developmental stage.
Strength-Focused
We help clients identify personal and cognitive strengths, using them as the foundation for growth rather than defining them by their challenges.
Whole-Person Care
We consider the intersection of cognitive processes, emotional functioning, identity, relationships, neurobiology, environment, and lived experience.
Collaborative and Transparent
We work with clients to meet them where they are at. Therapy goals, progress, and strategies are openly defined and continuously refined.
Practical and Applicable
We translate therapeutic insights into real-world behavior change, using skills that can be practiced beyond the therapy room.
Individually Responsive
We provide identity-aware care for clients of all backgrounds, as therapy is more effective when clients feel understood, supported, and empowered.
